'Zine on the table this week

This issue of Civil War Historian is a bit thin this time around. But, still it's a worthy buy. Nice article on the event at the Fort McAllister Garrison, plenty of shots. Another great article explains the 1841 Rifle in all it's variations.

Can't get this site to open?

My fault -- I posted the title and pict, and then had to go and do something else.

I'd like to order the Almanacs for 1861 and 1862 when they come out.
Just made my first purchase from James Country Mercantile. The package arrived in the mail yesterday. I bought a Civil War era dress pattern. So I'll be busy now with the help of my daughter and her girlfriend, cutting out & sewing up the outfit.

You've made the jump! Congratulations! Planning on going to any events?

First I'd better sew the get-up garb and hopefully I won't look like a farb!
I've been to a few sites in the south like Gainesville, the town where General Longstreet died, Andersonville and Franklin. Just haven't been to any battle reenactments. I'll have to watch for events close to KY or TN.

You have Mill Springs, KY coming up in October, which is promising to be a sizable event. When you get garbed up, you ought to post your pict on your blog, and describe what you're wearing.

That sounds good! I'll look into the event in KY. One of my brothers lives on Lake Michigan north of Chicago so I could stay at his place coming down and going back. I really like KY, beautiful climate and scenery but Illinois puts me right to sleep.
I'll post my photo as soon as I get all gussied up!
